1. CARILLON PARK (St. Pierre Jolys)
Situated just behind the St. Pierre Jolys Community Centre, Carillon Park offers a ton of public space dedicated for residents and visitors. For the sporty types, you can find here a skate park, baseball diamonds, a soccer field, and a playground! Also: a brand new splash pad makes the park an ideal spot to beat the heart during the summer months. Any hikers in the family? You may be pleased to know that the Crow Wing Trail, a historic pedestrian trail that runs from Winnipeg to Emerson, runs through the park. Why not take a break at Carillon Park during your hike? 2. ST. GEORGES BEACH
On the bank of the Winnipeg River in the southeast of the province, you can find a small and quaint beach in the rural community of St. Georges. The refreshing and shallow waters of the beach make it a perfect spot to savour a Manitoba summer day with the kids. Our recommendation: after your swim, be sure to visit the Rapid Water Market Deli, which is situated just across from the beach. The restaurant offers a delicious assortment of gelato and other treats! Once you have explored the beach and eaten your goodies, make sure to stop by the Winnipeg River Heritage Museum to discover the heritage and folklore of the Winnipeg River. Explore St. Georges
3. ST. MALO PROVINCIAL PARK
St. Malo Provincial Park is an ideal destination for all varieties of summer vacations. Catch some sun on the shores of its two beaches or take advantage of its calm waters to go canoeing, kayaking or stand up paddleboarding. There are also a number of interpretive trails in the park where you can explore the region’s unique wildlife and vegetation. Our suggestion: be sure to visit the park’s canteen, The Barefoot Cafe, where you can get a wide range of delicious snacks like ice cream, Japanese crepes, and burgers. For sports lovers, you can also take advantage of the park's mini golf course and water craft rentals! Explore St. Malo
4. TWO AMAZING PARKS IN POWERVIEW-PINE FALLS
The twin communities of Powerview-Pine falls, situated in the East of Manitoba, offers a wide range of experiences that are perfect for nature lovers. One of our favourite destinations is Pitre Park, which for the past thirty years has been something of a hidden gem for local residents, as well as an incredible spot for photoshoots. Fun fact: Pitre Park is the result of the hard work and dedication of one man from the region, who created the park by himself to beautify the community. In the middle of the community, there is also Village Green Park. With a playground and picnic tables, the park is a great spot to enjoy a relaxing afternoon with the family. 5. ST. JOSEPH MUSEUM
The grounds of the St. Joseph Museum can boast of being one of the most historic outdoor attractions in the whole province. The Museum itself is perfect for every history buff. Indeed, it is made up of two historic villages that will send you for a journey back in time to discover the lives of the first Francophone settlers of the region. The Museum is also surrounded by a vast field with a baseball diamond and even a campground. One of our favourite activities to do when we visit St. Joseph is to take the kids out to fly a kite in the field! Whether you’re the sporty type or curious about our province’s history, the St. Joseph Museum is a destination that is not to be missed! Explore St. Joseph
