Vacationing on the shores of Lake Manitoba

The new Surfside Beach Campground campground in Saint-Ambroise is scheduled to open in the summer of 2021. Many holidaymakers have already booked their locations for the summer season. (1)  Sterling Ducharme comments: "We have a capacity of 150 people, with different pitches for tents or RV vehicles. The season would start in the summer and end in September. "Right now, we are still in the work phase. There's still a lot to do. We really want to give everyone the opportunity to have a nice time here, offering them lots of different activities. " The project began in July 2020. He recalls: "Before, there was a campground that was destroyed from a flood in 2011. Subsequently, the land was abandoned. Then the Manitoba government launched a tender for this land. I immediately entered my name."

The campsite is approximately 100 hectares. Sterling Ducharme continues, “We are fortunate to be located on Lake Manitoba, so in addition to camping sites, we intend to create recreational areas. “There's a beach with plenty of sand for those who enjoy swimming, but also, if we're able to, we would like to be able to offer kayaks for rental. "We also think that we will be able to open a patio with a bar in the future, where we can come and have a drink and eat. And for those who love hiking, we will create walking trails, with places for birdwatching. "

Sterling Ducharme has a multitude of ideas in mind for his campground. However, he remains realistic. "I have a lot of ideas in mind, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to complete them all before this summer! I am already in the process of applying for a permit to be able to build a boat launch ramp. “In addition, I would also like to one day offer yurt rentals on the campground, as well as on-site entertainment. Music groups, actors, dancers or even movie screenings, we have plenty of entertainment for everyone! We would be delighted to welcome all types of people, whether it's families, young people, retirees...We will have something for everyone.
