Hiking and outdoor enthusiasts, take advantage of the fall to explore or rediscover new trails and appreciate the beautiful colours of the season! Here are 5 of our favourite trails to discover in Manitoba for walking, biking, running or horseback riding by yourself or with the family this fall.
The St. Adolphe Friendship Trail is a 2.7 km loop that follows the Red River. With its flat terrain, the trail is considered easy and can be completed in about 30 minutes. It’s a great spot for birdwatching, especially during the fall migration. The trail also features a playground nestled in the woods, offering fun for children.
Explore this 4.2 km trail in the RM of Lorne that can be completed in 45 minutes. This trail is great for bird–watching, hiking, or family walks. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
With 10 access points on a 193 km route, the Crow Wing Trail is ideal for hiking, walking, biking or horseback riding mainly towards the southern half of the trail. Affiliated with the European routes leading to Santiago de Compostela (Camino de Santiago), it is also recognized as a pilgrimage trail. The Camino section of the Crow Wing Trail is 25 km long.
For history buffs, the Dawson Trail offers a 150 km route to explore by car. Along the way, 15 markers provide historical information about the trail, offering insights into the people, places, stories, and events that helped shape Manitoba.
Considered an easy loop, it can be completed in about 30 minutes. Whittier Park is perfect for walking, mountain biking, or simply unwinding while taking in the natural scenery and vibrant fall colours.
A visit to Manitoba means travelling through Treaty 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 territory and communities signatory to Treaties 6 and 10, the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anish-Ininiwak, Dakota, Dené, Iiniwak, and Nehethowuk and the homeland of the Métis Nation. Its ongoing existence is thanks to these ancestors and their present day relatives who continue to love and care for the land.
